2007 is going to be an exciting year for relocating families. There are several very good cities and suburbs to relocate to. The Relocation Professionals is going to release its "Top Relocation Cities" to assist our relocation families in their relocation process. Below is our Top Relocation Cities article for the beginning of 2007.
Top 23 Relocation Cities in the United States #23 - Knoxville, Tennessee Knoxville has been a popular relocation city in the last 5 years. Since 2002 Knoxville has increased its population by 3%, but since 2005 the population has again increased by 3.6%. Due to a lot of new home construction and an average home price of only $200,000, Knoxville definitely deserves to be on of the top relocation cities. #22 - Richmond, Virginia Lets be honest here... you will not see a lot of mid-west or east coast cities on this list. But Richmond deserves to be on this list! Due to its close proximity to Washington, D.C., Richmond is known as being one of the larger hub cities in the area. With the average home price in Richmond of $240,000, the city is home to a lot of relocating families. #21 - Tucson, Arizona For the sixth year in a row Tucson has received an increase in population. Since 2002 Tucson has seen a 5.4% increase in relocating families. Recently Tucson has seen its average home price dip to $250,00, where it was around $280,000 in early 2006. If you are thinking about relocating to Tucson, Arizona right now might be the perfect time! #20 - Las Vegas, Nevada What can you say about a city so popular they made a television show about it. Las Vegas is continually in the top relocation cities due to its overwhelming amount of people relocating there each year. Expect Las Vegas to keep increasing its population and give a run at being in the top 10 most relocated to cities by 2008. #19 - Dallas, Texas Eventhough the "Dallas Area [DFW]" is going through a weird funk, a lot of people are still moving to Dallas. Due to the amount of homes built in 2005-2006 the average home price in Dallas has dropped to an average of $185,500. Expect Dallas to again increase its population and move its way up the list in 2008. #18 - Denver, Colorado Being one of the hub cities in Colorado, Denver definitely deserves a place in the top 20. Jobs are in abundance for Denver and the housing costs are very affordable. #17 - Savannah, Georgia Savannah is seeing a lot of people relocating to its city. There are a lot of good paying jobs in Savannah and the house costs are only in the $260,000 range. This is up roughly 4% over the last year, due to more people relocating to the city driving up the house costs a bit. #16 - Chicago, Illinois Chicago like Richmond is another mid-west/east coast type of city that would be considered a "suburb city". Where in a lot of people live in the suburban area of Chicago, then drive into the city of Chicago to work. Chicago has a unique distinction of being one of the largest relocation cities boasting over 2.8 million residents. #15 - Wilmington, North Carolina Wilmington is the first city in North Carolina on this top 25 list, but it will be in no means the last. Nearly everything single city in North Carolina has seen an increase of population. With great relocation cities such as Raleigh, Charlotte, Durham, Cary etc.. no wonder a city like Wilmington is also in this top 25 list. #14 - Jacksonville, Florida Its not suprise Jacksonville is in the top 20, because it seems this city is always in the top 20. Jacksonville is home to a very large military base, where a lot of its relocations come from. Jacksonville also has a very low average home price of only $240,000. #13 - Colorado Springs, Colorado Like Jacksonville, Colorado Springs is another large city with a large military base. Colorado Springs also boasts a low average home price, which is currently at $223,000. With an abundance of jobs this city nearly edges out Jacksonville. #12 - Nashville, Tennessee Nashville might well be the top relocation city in Tennessee. Due to its central positioning in the state a lot of people choose Nashville to call home. Plus its one of the best music cities in the country. With a plethora of jobs and an average home price of only $190,000 Nashville is a very good relocation destination. #11 - Scottsdale, Arizona Scotsdale is the first of the "Maricopa County Cities" to be in this top list, but it won't be the last. Maricopa County is one of the largest and fastest growing cities in the country. Due to very affordable homes and lots of jobs this place is booming. It also helps to have a dynamic city such as Phoenix only a few miles away. #10 - Orlando, Florida Everyone knows that Orlando is home to Walt Disney World but what a lot of people do not know is how affordable Orlando is to live in. The average home price is only $289,000, which compared to other Floridian cities this is a great deal. Orlando also has a lot of larger companies offering employment to a lot of people. #9 - Asheville, North Carolina Ashville is becomming one of the fastest growing cities in North Carolina, and that is saying a lot! The amount of people relocating to this smaller sized town is amazing. Due to an abundance of jobs in the area (good high paying jobs), plus average home price which is low... this is a very good city to relocate to. #8 - Seattle, Washington Welcome to the top of the list. Seattle comes in at number 10 because of the amount of people relocating to this city. Which in the last 7 years has been an average increase of 2% each year. This is a dynamic city, and will remain in the top 10 for years to come. #7 - Houston, Texas Houston has become one of the better relocation cities in Texas in the last few years. Due to Hurricane Katrina there are less jobs in this city, but the housing costs are lowered. Houston is a port city, where in lies most of its money. Its also a very beautiful city right on the edge of the gulf. #6 - Austin, Texas Austin is finally the #1 most relocated to city in Texas. More and more people are relocating to Texas' capital due to affordable housing, central living, and an abundance of jobs. Austin keeps surprising us and will most likely crack the top 5 next year for relocation cities! #5 - Tampa, Florida Its not a surprise that Tampa is once again the #1 relocation city in Florida. This city keeps increasing in population and shows no signs of turning around. Just like Austin this city will be in the top for many years to come. #4 - Atlanta, Georgia Atlanta like Chicago is another suburban city. Most of the population lives in the suburbs of Atlanta and drive into Atlanta to work. Affordable housing in the Atlanta area is abundance, and jobs are easier to find in other large cities. Making Atlanta one of the better relocation cities in the country. #3 - Raleigh, North Carolina Of course Raleigh is in the top 5, it always is. If you look at any "top relocation cities" articles and you don't see Raleigh in the atleast top 10 of the list.. IGNORE IT! Raleigh has always been a top relocation city, and will most likely always continue to be. #2 - Charlotte, North Carolina This was really hard to do. Put Charlotte a head of Raleigh. But we looked at the amount of leads we have received for Charlotte, then looked at jobs, looked at the housing costs, and Charlotte barely beat out Raleigh for top relocatin cities. #1 - Fort Collins, Colorado Just as Money Magazine broke this story back in late 2006, Fort Collins is the number one relocation city in the United States. The average income for the city is through the roof. The city is completely gorgeous. The homes are very affordable and breathtaking. Its easy to name this the top relocation city.
