According to several sources the state of Louisiana is currently seeing a large spike in relocation. Several parishes including Sabine Parish are perfect relocation areas due to hurricanes such as Hurricane Katrina.
"They want hurricane hideaways or second homes. They're tired of running from the hurricanes every year," said Dayna Yeldell, an agent with Bo Dowden Realty. Business has been so brisk for Yeldell that she quit a full-time job in Texas and transitioned from part-time to full time for Dowden's company. From January through Sept. 9, Yeldell has closed on $3.9 million in sales, and had three more to close by month's end. Two sales should be finalized this month and another in January. She anticipates selling more than $4 million by year's end. Bo Dowden said he's not yet tracking the total year's sales; he'll do that at year's end. But he already anticipates sales being 50 percent better than last year. "And last year we were up 50 percent from the year before," Dowden said. "The hottest area on the lake is around the (Pendleton) bridge area right now." Hopefully Louisiana will become the great relocation state that it once was! - from www.eRelocationBlog.com
