Default Tornados

I am not from Kansas and I am wondering about the Tornados. Has this been a deterant from moving to this particular state because of the tornados. I live in California were there are earthquakes. I know that they are not the same but they can both cause devestation.

I've lived in "tornado alley" all my life and have only seen a handful of tornados. I would hope that they wouldn't be too big of a turn off for someone contemplating the area. Just like any where, Mother Nature can and will devestate in one way or another.

I have lived in "tornado alley" too for many years. We've had a lot of tornado warnings and a few tornadoes that hit very close to our home in Missouri. However, when I lived in Georgia, our home was hit by a tornado and a huge tree in our yard was uprooted. I guess there can be tornadoes in a lot of places so I wouldn't worry about Kansas too much.

ozzie - kinda off topic, but were you guys hit with the big ice storm a couple of weeks ago?

We just missed the worst of it, but my sister's boyfriend's family got hit pretty hard in the Springfield area.

I heard about the big ice storm. I have never experienced one before. I am sure that they can be just as scary as any type of weather that mother nature throws on us.

The ice storm was pretty severe. Hundreds of thousands without power for over a week, trees snaped in half, and I just can't imagine the amount of water lines that burst.

Wow. I don't think I could handle the not having power for a week. I have a professor that was MIA for about 3 days until he could get his generator up and going. It is really scary to think that so many things could go wrong and not have power, heat or food.
