The city of Denton (population 80,537) is the county seat for Denton County. It is located about 40 miles north of Dallas/Fort Worth, and is considered part of that metroplex. Although it certainly has its own identity, it is considered a suburb of Dallas.

Over the past 10 years Denton's population has continued to accelerate. People from all over the United States are relocating into Denton. Many get there by way of Dallas, but Denton is booming. In fact, it is part of one of the fastest growing areas of the country. Denton, Texas is suburban living at its finest.

In Denton and its surrounding communities you can find plenty to do. It is home to two Universities: University of North Texas and Texas Women's University. Combined enrollment for these schools is about 40,000 students. The economic impact they have on the city and county is substantial to say the least. Beyond money, these Universities bring jobs and contribute intellectual resources to the area. Among them are: an observatory, multiple libraries, art galleries, performing arts theatre and productions, large research facilities.

But Denton not just for the student, it's for the Family. There are lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy including, hiking, biking, fishing, golf tennis, boating, and a lot of other water sports available at some local reservoirs and Lake Lewisville. The median household income is $58,121 which is substantially higher than the state's median household income. The median home price is $133,000 which compared to other western cities is highly affordable. Denton County plays host to a number of good schools providing a solid educational opportunity for its students.
