Newhall, Castaic and Valencia,
California are three highly
desirable communities woven within what is called the Santa Clarita Valley located

Major sources of activity and excitement within the valley are the many motion picture
sound stages and back lots. There are over 10 studios in the area which are home to
numerous movies, music videos and TV shows like JAG, Crime Scene Investigations, Navy

industry is the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio Western Back Lot that hosted

is further north of the city limits. Santa Clarita has a total population of 160,000

Kids will enjoy not just one, but two Six Flags attractions. Magic Mountain, known
throughout the country as the thrill ride haven, has over 100 rides, games and
activities. The other, Hurricane Harbor, is a tropical themed water park with a
lineup of over 22 slides and wet attractions. Another way to have cool family fun
is at the Ice Station Valencia, featuring three ice skating surfaces, pro shop,
arcade, ballet and dance room, restaurant and banquet room. Ice Station Valencia is
Southern California's most modern community ice and family entertainment center
encompassing more than 92,000 square feet over two levels.
As one of Southern California's premier amusement and outdoor sporting attractions,
Castaic Lake Recreation Area consists of two separate lakes. The main Reservoir has
approximately 34 miles of shoreline and is a "V" shaped body of water that offers
many activities to residents and visitors of all ages. All forms of boating, fishing,
water skiing, jet skiing, lake tours, hiking, biking, camping, motocross, and
swimming are available throughout the summer months. Castaic Lake is host to many
special events. Fishing tournaments, Hobie regattas, mountain bike races, triathlons,
jet-ski races, motocross races, 4th of July fireworks display, and the annual Winter
Magic Festival with a colorful boat parade of lights are just a taste of the fun.
California Institute of the Arts, The Master's College, and College of the Canyons
are located in Santa Clarita Valley and are an educational resource to residents of
Santa Clarita and nearby communities. Collectively, their student population reached
15,079 students. California State University, Northridge is located nearby in the
northern part of the San Fernando Valley and south of Santa Clarita and serves as an
additional resource for higher-level education that is more "close to home."
